TECHNO NEWS (HOW WILL 2017 START)

2016 was musically quite intense. Unfortunately, it has taken a lot of great artists away, however, it was also a very interesting year introducing a bunch of new artists to the world. Since the new year is just about to start, here are some of the things announced in the underground electronic world for the beginning of 2017:

FATIMA YAMAHA NEW EP  Dekmantel’s first release in 2017 will be a three track EP “Araya” by one of the best live act artists Fatima Yamaha. The EP will be released on February 7th 2017. RICARDO VILLALOBOS’ NEW RELEASE WILL BE UNDER THE RICHARD WOLFSDORF ALIAS – After 11 years the Chilean artist will publish his first 2017 release under the alias he last used for “Buena Onda” in 2005. The two track EP called “MDRNTY002” will be released on the Swiss label MDRNTY on January 16th.

CRSSD FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES IT’S SPRING LINE UP – The San Diego CRSSD festival announced an outstanding line-up for spring 2017 and it includes artists such as Damian Lazarus, Jackmster, Skream, Seth Troxler, Âme, AlunaGeorge, Recondite, Peggy Gou, Rødhåd, Josh Wink and many more.

MARC HOULE ANNOUNCES “SINISTER MIND”, THE FIRST LP OF HIS TRILOGY – The German label Items & Things will release the “Sinister Mind” LP by the Canadian techno producer Marc Houle on March 24th. “Sinister Mind” is the first LP of Houle’s trilogy. “This first LP reflects the darker tendencies and tones of his sound,” says the label.

BPM ORGANIZERS ANNOUNCE TWO NEW EVENT SERIES – The two new event series include:Solamente” which will highlight the art of DJing, debuting with The Martinez Brothers; and “Vamos a la Playa” which will be a pre-party tour bringing Hector, Stacey Pullen and the spirit of BPM to Brazil, Canada and North America.

THE InFiné 10 COMPILATION TO BE RELEASED –  The French minimal techno label will release a 19 track compilation including the famous tracks like Rone’s “Bora Vocal,” Oxia’s “Harmonie” and Agoria’s “Speechless” on January 6th. The compilation release will be followed by showcases in Laval, Saint-Denis de La Réunion, Rennes and Paris throughout February and March.

RICHIE HAWTIN, APEX TWIN AND MANO LE TOUGH TO PLAY NOS PRIMAVERA SOUND – The smaller, sister festival of Barcelona’s Primavera will be held in June for the sixth time in Porto, Portugal. Aphex Twin will headline alongside the performances of Nicolas Jaar, Richie Hawtin, Bicep, Mano Le Tough and many others.
